When we last travelled to Cuba, thanks to tripcentral.ca, we had the opportunity to visit several resorts with day passes and explore more of what the island of Cayo Santa Maria has to offer tourists looking for an all-inclusive vacation in Cuba.
One of the resorts we got to spend a day at was the Valentin Perla Blanca and we found it an interesting contrast to the others we’ve seen on the island. The reason? It’s an adults-only resort and so it held extra interest for us as we’re always looking for new places that are especially geared towards couples or have the ability to amp-up the romance factor.
The Valentin Perla Blanca Resort Overview
As we mentioned, the Valentin Perla Blanca is adults-only which means you won’t find anyone under 18 on the property and amenities are geared towards couples and groups looking for romance, relaxation and fun.
This is especially noticeable in the sheer quantity of restaurant and bar options. With 12 restaurants (7 a la cartes) and 10 bars, it’s perfect for those looking to enjoy libation and food on the resort. It also lends itself to romantic dining experiences and a more party atmosphere if desired with the disco open in the evenings.
The resort itself is modern and sleek in design with bright colours throughout the resort and gorgeous vegetation and flowers across the grounds creating that private getaway feel.
Standard rooms come with typical amenities like hair dryer, iron and ironing board, TV, coffee/tea maker and in-room safe and are simplistic but pleasant in decor. It was evident when we toured the rooms that cleanliness was important and we even spotted a swan animal towel awaiting the next guest to check-in!
The beach is typical of this stretch of Cayo Santa Maria: unbelievable white sand and turquoise water and there is a good number of loungers and cabanas for cover from the sun. You really can’t go wrong with the beaches on the island and the Valentin Perla Blanca appears to keep theirs clean and maintained with an added touch of both multiple restaurants and bars on the beach.
One thing we really liked at the Valentin was the pool areas. We loved the option of the loungers in the water and also found the staff to be incredibly friendly and fun while music played to set the atmosphere.
Unfortunately, we did not get to sample much of the food at the Valentin. We stopped by a buffet that was set up temporarily for guests (it was low season and, as with many resorts in the area, modifications to amenities are made. It is important to inquire about exactly what will be offered during your stay to avoid any disappointments). What we did sample was pretty decent and typical of Cuban resort fare.
Overall, the Valentin Perla Blanca seems like a great option for a resort in Cayo Santa Maria, especially for those looking for a romantic escape or a fun adults-only group trip. We loved the modern feel combined with the lush vegetation and tropical vibes and the beaches on the island are unparalleled pretty much anywhere you go. We would definitely want to head back and sample the 12 restaurant options that are available and see what entertainment is available for guests as we anticipate there would be a different set of shows and activities while staying at an adults-only resort.
A huge thanks to tripcentral.ca for making these experiences possible. If you’re looking for vacation packages or looking to book a trip, check them out! As with everything, reviews and opinions are our own.
